Our Charity

In 2006 Clare and Kash O’Hara, the designers behind OHARA, took time out of their own lives to do some volunteer work and give back. They volunteered at Education for Life, Kenya, an organisation that helps to prevent the spread of HIV & AIDS though education. Education for Life aims to educate as many people in sub-Saharan Africa as possible about life and making informed decisions to live a long and healthy life.

While Clare and Kash were in Kenya, they lived in Kariobangi, one of the slums in Nairobi, and they were surrounded by extreme poverty and disease which made them realise how lucky they were to be brought up in Australia. They did all types of work in schools, in orphanages, in clothing sewing rooms and on the streets and the designers could see first-hand the hard work and the progress that Education for Life make and they didn’t want their support to end when they left Africa.

Part of the reason Kash and Clare O’Hara set up their label OHARA was to raise money to give back to Education for Life. OHARA continue to support education for life by donating 5% of all profits each year.
